# Add a customer and use the customer page

### Add a customer

**Website:**

1. Go to **Customers** → **Add new**.
2. Enter the **Name** and **Currency**, and the main contact's **First name**.
3. Add any other details: address, website, phone, **Customer since**, **Note**, more contacts or custom fields.
4. Click **Save**.

**App:**

1. Tap **Create (+)** → **New customer**. You can also add one while making an invoice.
2. Use **Quick add** (name, currency, main contact) or **Full details**.
3. Tap **Save customer**.

In the app, picking a **Country** fills in the currency for many countries.

The first contact is the main contact. Invoices are emailed there by default. A 4-digit PIN for the customer's dashboard is created automatically (see *Customer dashboard (client portal) and PIN*).

### The customer page

Click a customer (app: tap them) to open their page.

**Summary:** what you **Invoiced**, **Collected**, the **Balance due**, **Past due**, **Tax invoiced** and **Expenses**. Pick a date range or currency. Drafts and void invoices aren't counted. In the app, the summary starts at **All time**.

**Records:** tabs for **Invoices**, **Estimates**, **Payments** and **Expenses**. On the website you can send, download or delete invoices from here.

**Details:** address, contacts and notes. In the app, tap to call or email a contact.

**App extras:** **New invoice** and **Record payment** buttons, and **⋮** for **Copy dashboard URL**, **View activity** and **Archive customer**.

### Good to know

- Expenses have no currency, so they show in your company currency.
- Statements are under **Reports** → **Customer statement** (see *Customer statements*).

### FAQ

**Where do I add a tax ID?** There's no tax ID field. Create a custom field for it (see *Customer custom fields*).

**I can't find deals or notes on the customer page.** Deals and notes live in the CRM (see *Work with CRM deals: board, list, deal page and notes*).
