# Attachments: formats and limits

Attach PDFs and photos to an invoice or estimate. Your customer can open them from the invoice page, and you can include them in the email.

### Add attachments (web)

1. Open the invoice or estimate in the editor.
2. In **Attachments**, drag files in or click **Add file...**.
3. Save. Files upload when you save.
4. When you send, tick **Add attachments in email** if you want them in the email too.

### Add attachments (app)

1. In the invoice builder, tap **More options** → **Attachments**.
2. Tap **Add file** and choose a file. Add one file at a time.
3. Save the invoice.

### What you can attach

Other types, including GIF, SVG, HTML, ZIP and RAR, aren't accepted.

### Good to know

- An email can be up to 10 MB in total. If your files don't fit, the email still goes out without them and tells your customer to download them from the invoice link.
- Recurring invoices can't have attachments.
- Duplicating an invoice, converting an estimate or saving as a template copies the attachments.
- A link to an attachment that you copy from the page stops working after about 2 hours. Reload the page to get a fresh one. Your customer can always open the files from their invoice link.
- In the app, removing a file that's already uploaded deletes it straight away, even if you cancel your other changes.

### FAQ

**My customer can't see the attachments in the email.** Check that **Add attachments in email** was ticked. If the files were too large, they're on the invoice page instead.

**It says "File is bigger than 10MB."** Make the file smaller (for example, save the PDF at a lower quality) and try again.

**Can I attach a ZIP file?** No. Attach the files one by one, as PDF or image files.
