# Convert an estimate to an invoice

When your customer agrees to an estimate, you can turn it into an invoice in a couple of clicks. Nothing is sent until you send the invoice.

### Convert an estimate

1. **Web:** open the estimate and click **Convert** (or use **Convert** on its row in the Estimates list). **App:** open the estimate and tap **Convert to invoice**, or hold its row and tap **Convert**.
2. A new invoice opens with the estimate's customer, items, discount, notes and terms.
3. Check the **Issued** and **Due** dates. They're copied from the estimate, so they may be in the past.
4. Save the invoice. The estimate's status changes to **Converted**.
5. Send the invoice when you're ready.

If you close the new invoice without saving, the estimate stays as it was.

### Convert automatically when your customer approves

1. **Web:** **Settings** → **Invoice**.
2. Tick **Auto-convert estimate after client accept it.** and click **Save**.

Now, when your customer clicks **Approve** on the estimate page, InvoiceQuick creates a **Draft** invoice. Your customer sees "Estimate is accepted and converted to invoice." Open the draft from **Invoices**, check it and send it.

This setting is off until you turn it on, and it's only on the website.

### Good to know

- Draft estimates can't be converted. Send the estimate or mark it as sent first.
- If the customer is archived, restore them first.
- Your customer can approve or decline from the estimate page while it's Sent, Viewed or Downloaded. A scheduled estimate shows the buttons once its email goes out. You get a notification when they approve.
- Estimates don't expire on their own. Your customer can still approve after the due date.
- To see the estimate the way your customer does, see *What your customer sees on an estimate*.

### FAQ

**I can't see Convert.** The estimate is probably still a draft, or the customer is archived.

**My customer approved, but I don't see an invoice.** Auto-convert is off, so convert it yourself. If it's on, look for a new draft in **Invoices**.

**Does my customer get the invoice automatically?** No. Converting never emails anyone. Send the invoice yourself.
