# Create, send and manage estimates

Send your customer a price before you do the work. They can approve or decline it online, and you can turn it into an invoice.

### Create an estimate

1. **Web:** **Estimates** → **Add new**, pick the customer. **App:** **Create (+)** → **New estimate**.
2. Check the number and dates, add a **Job description**, and add your lines, as on an invoice.
3. Click **Save estimate**.

The app calls the due date **Expires**. It's only a date on the document. Your customer can still approve after it.

Estimates don't have accepted payments, late fees or reminders.

### Send it

1. Open the saved estimate and click **Send estimate**.
2. Choose contacts, check the subject and message (from your Estimate template), and click **Send now** or **Send later**.

Sent another way? Use **Mark as sent**. You can undo it until your customer views or downloads the estimate.

### Follow its status

| Status | Means |
| --- | --- |
| Draft | Not sent yet |
| Sent / Scheduled | Emailed, or set to send later |
| Viewed / Downloaded | Your customer opened it or downloaded the PDF |
| Approved / Declined | Your customer answered |
| Converted | You made an invoice from it (see *Convert an estimate to an invoice*) |

Use the **Past Due** filter to find estimates past their due date that aren't drafts, approved or converted.

### Duplicate or delete

- **Duplicate** makes a new estimate with today's date.
- **Delete** removes it for good. Do it from the **Estimates** list or the estimate itself.

During the free trial you can create up to 30 estimates.

### FAQ

**Download (PDF) in the editor didn't download anything.** Save the estimate, open it, then click **Download (PDF)** there.

**The send button says "Send invoice now".** It sends your estimate. That label is shared with invoices.

**I don't see Download (PDF).** Only the company owner can download a single estimate PDF. Managers can select estimates and use **Download PDF's**.
