# Void, restore or delete an invoice

**Void** an invoice to cancel it but keep the record. **Delete** it only if it was never real, because deleting is permanent.

### Void an invoice

**Web**

1. Open the invoice and click **Edit**.
2. Open the three-dot menu and switch on **Void this invoice**.
3. Save the invoice.

**App**

1. Open the invoice and tap **More actions** → **Void invoice**.
2. You'll see "Invoice voided".

A void invoice shows a total of 0. It's left out of your totals and the dashboard, and it can't be sent, marked as sent or paid. If it was scheduled to send, that email is cancelled. Recorded payments stay on it.

### Restore a void invoice

- **Web:** **Edit** → three-dot menu → switch **Void this invoice** off → save.
- **App:** **More actions** → **Restore invoice**.

### Delete an invoice

1. **Web:** In **Invoicing** → **Invoices**, open the row menu and choose **Delete**. Confirm "Delete this invoice?".
2. **App:** Open the invoice → **More actions** → **Delete invoice**, and confirm.

Deleting removes the invoice, its activity history, its attachments and any scheduled reminders. **There is no trash and no way to restore it.**

### Good to know

- An invoice with recorded payments can't be deleted. You'll see: "This invoice has recorded payments. Delete its payments first or void the invoice instead." We recommend voiding.
- Owners and managers can select several invoices and delete them together. In the app you get a few seconds to tap **Undo**.
- In the app, drafts can't be voided. Delete the draft instead.

### FAQ

**I have old past-due invoices I'll never collect. How do I clear them?** Void them. They stay in your records but drop out of "You're owed" and overdue counts.

**Can I get a deleted invoice back?** No. If you might need it later, void it instead.

**I deleted an invoice and then saw "Page not found".** The invoice was deleted, so its page no longer exists. Go to **Invoicing** → **Invoices** to check it's gone. To avoid the message, delete from the Invoices list. If the invoice is still listed, check that the right company is selected.

**What does my customer see if they open a void invoice?** The invoice shows 0 and has no way to pay.
