Edit an invoice, change its dates or duplicate it
You can change any part of an invoice, even after it's sent or paid.
Edit an invoice
- Open the invoice and click Edit (app: Edit invoice, or hold the row → Edit).
- Change what you need: customer, lines, dates, notes, payment options.
- Click Save invoice (app: Save & continue).
Changes to the customer, currency, language, prices and payment options are written in the invoice's activity.
Change the dates
In the editor, change the Issued and Due dates, or pick other payment terms. Changing the issue date doesn't move the due date. If the new issue date is later than the due date, the due date becomes the issue date. Check it before you save.
Reminder and late-fee timings update when you save.
After you edit
- Editing doesn't send the invoice again. If your customer needs the new version, click Send invoice.
- The invoice link stays the same and shows your changes.
- In the app, you can't change the currency once a payment is recorded.
Duplicate an invoice
Use Duplicate on the invoice or its row menu, then review and save.
The copy keeps the customer and contacts, currency, lines, discount, notes and terms, payment options, payment link, attachments, language and email settings. It gets the next number, is issued today, and the due date keeps the same number of days as the original. In the app, the copy starts with no late fee and no payment link. Add them again if you need them.
Good to know
- Need to cancel an invoice instead? Void it (see Void, restore or delete an invoice).
- If the customer is archived, you'll need to restore them before you can edit or duplicate their invoice (see Archive and restore customers).
